"Buffaloed" (16"X20" oil on canvas) depicts two Buffalo Soldiers on patrol. Post Civil War, entire calvary troops were populated with African Americans and these soldiers were used extensively during the Indian Wars of this era. These two soldiers were likely apprehensive when they encountered the remnants of what likely was an Indian raid on a family wagon.

J.P. "Pat" Childress, a fifth generation Texan, was born and raised in the eastern oilfields of the state. He graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a M.B.A and after starting and later selling a holding company, Childress moved to the Hill Country of Texas. His interest in art is long standing; he constantly improves his techniques in oil painting and sculpting through workshops and classes with some of the most highly respected artists on today's art scene.
